Scene 1 of Life Unstuck
Last year on January 1st, 2014, I purchased Michael Hyatt’s on-line program, “5 Days to the Best Year of Your Life.” Yes, I was stuck in life and wanted to change directions but did not know what direction to go in. One of the questions in this course that resonated with me was, “What movie genre would best describe the past year of your life (e.g., adventure, tragedy, romance, drama, comedy, etc.?”.
Last January, my answer was a tragedy. I felt like my life was slipping away in endless meaningless days. I was not making a positive impact in anyone’s life. Well…I know I made a positive impact in the lives of my two cats, but that was not enough. I was also in a job that did not fit my style of working. I like a quiet workplace where I can focus and concentrate on one thing at a time. My job at the time was full of constant interruptions with always a large number of tasks in my que.
So that started an incredible journey of change in my life. An incredible and risky journey but a journey that I needed to take. For me this meant leaving my job in technology with a mega-church in the Denver area to participating in a two month intensive training in Albuquerque, New Mexico to become a Medical Support Clinical Hypnotherapist. Why Hypnotherapy? I believe that Hypnotherapy is one of the most powerful techniques to help people meet their own individual goals in life. Whether to just become unstuck or to make huge leaps in positive life results.
I have now started my Hypnotherapy practice and started my on-line training business (www.simplehabitsblueprint.com). Yes, starting a new business is a challenge. Yes, it is scary not having a secure monthly income but now I am alive again. Now I can answer the movie genre question with a different answer. This year is an adventure. An adventure full of risk and change but an adventure with promise and new life.
What do you think?
How would you answer this question? What movie genre would best describe the past year of your life (e.g., adventure, tragedy, romance, drama, comedy, etc.? (Please comment below.)
Knowing consciously where you are and examining your thoughts and emotions is the first step to moving forward to living an incredible journey.
