In part 1, I identified that my ideal clients are those who are not only interested in changing their life but are committed to change. Conversely, an ideal hypnotherapist is one who is skilled with helping people change and has expectations for change. This post will discuss my second criteria for my ideal client.
So who are my ideal clients?
Those who seek to live healthy and meaningful lives.
What you believe and the thoughts you think impacts your physical health. The research around the body-mind connection is strong.
The Center for Spirituality and Healing at the University of Minnesota describes the mind-body connection like this:
“…our thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and attitudes can positively or negatively affect our biological functioning. In other words, our minds can affect how healthy our bodies are! On the other hand, what we do with our physical body (what we eat, how much we exercise, even our posture) can impact our mental state (again positively or negatively). This results in a complex interrelationship between our minds and bodies.”
Mind-body specialist Dr. James Gordon states that the mind and body are essentially inseparable: “the brain and peripheral nervous system, the endocrine and immune systems, and indeed, all the organs of our body and all the emotional responses we have, share a common chemical language and are constantly communicating with one another.”
The type of Medical Support Hypnotherapy that I am trained in and practice is a compliment to other standard medicinal treatments. As medical professionals can help your body to heal, Medical Support Hypnotherapists can help you to heal your thoughts and emotions. When you reverse negative thoughts and emotions and replace them with positive thoughts and emotions, you are influencing your entire body-mind system towards health.
Notice, that I said, “healthy and meaningful” lives. Living a meaningful life is essential for good health. Please see Part 3 of this series for a discussion of a meaningful life.
Who is your Ideal Hypnotherapist?
One who has a holistic approach to the health of each person.
I have developed an approach called Simple Habits Blueprint (www.simplehabitblueprint.com) The five areas of this approach are:
EAT – Healthy Nutrition Is A Foundation Of Good Health For Your Body.
MOVE – Exercise And Movement Are Key For Living A Fun And Healthy Life.
THINK – The Quality Of Thoughts Determine The Quality Of Your Life
REST – Rest, Meditate, De-Stress Are Key For Health And Well-Being.
CONNECT – Connect With God And Others
When you come to my office for sessions, I will ask you about your nutrition and other habits in your life. For example, if you come in and want help with anxiety, we will discuss your sleep and nutrition. I will also ask about your relationships and how connected you feel you are towards others. In other words, I will care about you as a whole person.
What are your thoughts concerning good health? What do you do for achieving and maintaining good health? (Please comment below)
So again I ask, what do you think so far? Are you my ideal client? Am I your ideal Hypnotherapist?
